"BLACK & WHITE CHORD" Collection
This collection was created for my individual exhibition, which was realized in 2015, Art Gallery "MYRO", Thessaloniki Greece. Of all the features of the human body, it's the face that most intrigues and challenges me. Visual art practice is a solitary endeavor wherein the art mirrors those things the artist values. Making sculpture that speaks about the inner state of consciousness is important to me. The human image has always fascinated me, and it's through figure and face sculpture that I reach out to touch my world. My ideas often appear as an early morning thought where, in my minds eye, I glimpse a figure moving withing an ethereal space. I carefully select my models, so the faces casts for "Black and White chord" were taken from different woman. I used various techniques for sculpting, which is employed specifically to create an otherworldly effect: the impression of the faces transcendence of materials and existence in a realm of pure consciousness.
